This article will tell you how to copy a VirtualBox virtual machine to another hard disk or computer when your disk has fewer disk spaces step by step.
1. Get The Current Installed VirtualBox Virtual Machine’s Saved Folder.
- The first step you should do is to get the VirtualBox virtual machine’s saved directory that you want to move.
- Open the Oracle VM VirtualBox Manager.
- Right-click the virtual machine in the VirtualBox Manager left VM list.
- Click the Settings menu item in the popup menu list.
- In the virtual machine’s Settings window, click the General tab on the left panel.
- Then click the Advanced tab on the right side.
- Now you can get the virtual machine file saved folder in the Snapshot Folder input text box.
- Or you can right-click the virtual machine in the VirtualBox Manager virtual machine list.
- Then click the Clone menu item in the popup menu list to open the Clone Virtual Machine dialog window.
- Then you can get the virtual machine file saved folder path in the Path input text box.
2. Change The VirtualBox Default Machine Folder.
- Open the VirtualBox Manager, and click the Tools item on the left panel.
- Then click the Preferences button on the right-side top menu bar.
- In the Preferences dialog, click the General item on the left panel.
- Then you can browse the new folder that you created in section 3 as the VirtualBox default machine folder in the Default Machine Folder drop-down list.
3. Copy The VirtualBox Virtual Machine To Another Hard Disk Or Computer.
- create a new folder in the hard disk or computer that has more free space.
- Copy the current virtual machine’s file saved folder to the new folder.
- Open the VirtualBox VM Manager, right-click the old virtual machine item in the left panel.
- Click the Remove menu item in the popup menu list.
- Then click the Delete all files button in the popup window, now the old virtual machine files will be removed completely.
- Click the Machine —> Add… menu item on the VirtualBox VM Manager top menu bar.
- Browse to the new virtual machine saved folder, and select the virtual machine’s .vbox file.
- Now you can find the virtual machine on the Virtualbox VM Manager’s left side, you can start to use it.
